SAFETY minister Charles Namoloh has questioned the military bosses' unilateral decision to heighten the country's security status and military deployment into the streets, without consulting Cabinet.
Information seen by The Namibian shows that the country's highest decision-making body – Cabinet – was kept in the dark about plans to deploy the army onto the streets after alleged political threats to destabilise the country last year. Cabinet only found out about the deployment after it was executed. Sources familiar with the matter said Cabinet members were in shock after learning that the army bosses unilaterally unleashed the military onto the streets under the smokescreen of maintaining peace after the elections.
