FINANCE minister Calle Schlettwein yesterday said the N$150 million released from treasury would be used to pay for students on whom the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund overcommitted last year.
The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) quoted President Hage Geingob on Monday as saying Cabinet had agreed to release N$150 million to NSFAF. The Namibian reported last year that the student fund had committed to pay tertiary fees for 5 000 students who were not catered for in the budget. Schlettwein told The Namibian yesterday that the money would be released in two tranches, with the first disbursed this financial year, and the second in the next financial year.
