THE POVERTY eradication ministry announced last week that state pensions and disability grants will only be increased as from August.
The finance ministry earlier this year announced that pensions and grants for people living with disabilities would increase this year, with pensions going up from N$1 100 to N$1 200 per month. This increase was supposed to have been effected in April this year. In a statement issued last Friday, the ministry's permanent secretary, I-Ben Nashandi, said beneficiaries would receive their increased payouts from August this year. He said all eligible beneficiaries for old-age pension and disability grants would receive a once-off payment of N$1 600.
