A FARMER from the Omaheke region has approached the High Court in a bid to nullify the allocation of a resettlement farm to someone who allegedly did not apply for resettlement there.

In an affidavit filed at the High Court of Namibia in Windhoek, farmer Asser Katjinaani states that the land reform ministry allocated Unit B of farm Verweg in the Gobabis district to a certain Sella Hengari, whom he claims had not applied to be resettled on the farm. According to him, no application by Hengari was submitted to the land reform advisory commission for the commission to consider and recommend to the minister, in line with the Land Reform Act. Katjinaani says he applied for the same farm in February this year, but was sidelined by the ministry in order to advance the minister's interests. He is thus demanding that the court issues an order setting aside the decision by the land reform ministry to allocate the farm to Hengari, and instead for it to be allocated to him. He also wants the court to declare the decision of the minister invalid and of no force or effect.
