FINANCE minister Calle Schlettwein said a Cabinet committee will deliberate tomorrow whether to bail out the Roads Contractor Company (RCC), or recommend its closure.
Another parastatal whose fate will be discussed at the meeting is rail entity TransNamib. The RCC has requested a government bailout of N$300 million this year in order to continue operating. But a group of ministers are against extending the RCC's lifeline and want it closed. This could affect 480 people. Schlettwein said government was still discussing the RCC bailout, but acknowledged that there was no money to rescue the roads parastatal.
