N$155 000 drugs seized at coast

DRUGS with a street value of almost N$155 000 were confiscated by police at Swakopmund and Walvis Bay during an operation last Thursday and Friday.

Police arrested a 37-year-old suspect in Mondesa, Swakopmund, for dealing in dagga after 72 parcels weighing more than 15kg and with a street value of N$153 300 were found at a residence. Another Mondesa resident was arrested during the operation after he was found with 12 quarters, two full and four halves of mandrax with a value of N$700. Two other men were also arrested after they were found in possession of mandrax valued at N$150 and N$240, respectively. The suspects are expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate's Court today. A 57-year-old woman was also arrested at Kuisebmund during the operation in Walvis Bay after she was found with dagga valued at N$600. She and another Walvis Bay resident, found with dagga valued at N$100, are expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate's Court today.
