CHAOS erupted at a Swapo extraordinary conference on Saturday as members tussled for positions.
Insults and physical confrontations played out after party members elected new leaders for the Okorukambe district at Epukiro, and police had to be called in to maintain order. Sources said chaos was triggered by former district coordinator Raphael Mokaleng, who allegedly introduced himself as the incumbent, although he did not earlier stand for re-election and new coordinator Frans Murangi was chairing the meeting. Police regional commander for Omaheke, Josephat Abel yesterday confirmed the incident, but said there were no cases opened nor injuries sustained or damage to property reported. He said the incident was brought to his attention, and he immediately deployed officers to the venue.
