Boys arrested for attempting to rape friend

TWO boys from Walvis Bay were arrested last week on allegations of trying to rape their 10-year-old friend with a 500 ml bottle at the port town.

Police spokesperson chief inspector Kauna Shikwambi said the boys – aged 11 and 12 – were released on warning. She said the 10-year-old was taken to the Walvis Bay State Hospital, but was found not to have sustained any injury. Police also said a six-year-old from Swakopmund's Tutaleni location was allegedly raped by her mother's boyfriend (37) while the mother was away. The alleged rape, Shikwambi said, happened at the family's house. The suspect was arrested, and is expected to appear in court today.
