THE home affairs ministry is in the process of closing five regional sub-offices due to a lack of demand for services in certain areas.
Home affairs spokesperson Sakeus Kadhikwa said the ministry has already temporarily closed the Kamanjab sub-office in the Kunene region because they were only providing services to about seven people a month. He said the ministry's plans to close the sub-offices at Karibib, Linyanti, Aminuis and Talismanus were met with hostility by councillors. They will, therefore, only be closed after certain issues have been explained to the local authorities. Kadhikwa added that a mobile team was sent to Kamanjab on 27 April, and more than 50 people sought services, proving that the mobile system worked better in that area.
