Brussels - The European Union on Monday imposed sanctions against seven top Democratic Republic of Congo officials for their role in deadly clashes with protesters who demanded that President Joseph Kabila step down.
"Foreign ministers took the decision today to impose restrictive measures on seven individuals who occupy positions of responsibility in the security forces and who used disproportionate force," a statement said.
