Eight employees and former employees of the ministry of health were arrested Tuesday on charges of corruption involving over N$2 million.

In a statement released by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday, the eight accused – an accountant, nurses and cleaners – were arrested after an investigation pertaining to alleged involvement with fraudulent overtime claim, board and lodging payments, arrear payments and cash bonuses that were submitted and processed on the financial system whilst they never worked the overtime or were not entitled to any of the reimbursements.

The ACC says the case involves 426 charges of fraud.
