The Anti-Corruption Commission has charged Namibia Defence Force major-general Thomas Hamunyela, who failed to appear in court as expected on Tuesday.
The ACC announced on Wednesday that the general was summoned to court on charges of fraud, corruptly using his office or position for gratification, attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice as well as fraud. According to a press statement issued by the ACC on Wednesday evening, Hamunyela used a Namibia Defence Force motor vehicle and soldier to transport building materials to his homestead, and also used NDF property, including a water bowser and trailer, in the construction of his residence.
