The World Food Programme has warned of a worsening food crisis in war-wracked Yemen, saying the 19-month conflict has increased hunger and malnutrition.
The WFP issued its statement on Tuesday after visiting impoverished neighbourhoods and hospitals in the western province of Hajjah and the coastal province of Hodeida.
The conflict in Yemen escalated when Houthi rebels took control of the capital and much of the northern region, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in March last year to restore the internationally-recognised government of Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
