Road rage victim drops charges

The man who was arrested on charges of malicious damage to property and racial discrimination was released on Wednesday afternoon after he agreed to pay for the damages to the bumped vehicle.

Faizel Nickel was arrested on Tuesday after he bumped 24-year-old Christopher Itana's vehicle from the back at a local service station in Windhoek. Nickel agreed to pay N$58 000 to Itana by 12 PM for the case to be withdrawn. Failure to make a payment will result in charges being reopened, Itana said.

Speaking to the media at the Windhoek Magistrate's Court yesterday, Itana said they decided to agree on the N$58 000 because the court procedure would take too long before Nickel would pay for the damages.
