Player hits out at US Ryder Cup fans

Legendary South African golfer Gary Player has hit out at American fans for their behaviour at the Ryder Cup.

Shaking off three consecutive defeats, the United States recaptured the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008 on Sunday, beating Europe 17-11 at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

But the event was marred at times by American fans’ unruly behaviour during the three-day event, which saw them regularly boo the European players.
