400 firearms surrendered

More than 400 firearms have been surrendered by members of the public since the start of the amnesty for giving up illegal weapons started last month.
Police spokesperson chief inspector Kauna Shikwambi told a weekly crime briefing in Windhoek yesterday that since the start of the three-month amnesty period on 18 August, 443 firearms have been handed in. This included 424 rifles, 16 handguns and three shotguns, as well as 118 explosive ordnances.
