Mass casualties a concern

During the past week, which included the Heroes Day long weekend, 10 mass casualties were recorded through the MVA Fund's call centre. An analysis of the mass casualties revealed that five lives (45%) of the 10 fatalities were lost in mass casualties; 90 (43%) people were injured in the mass casualties of the total 207 injuries for the week; and 10 (12%) of the 85 crashes included mass casualties (five or more people involved in a crash). Mass casualties occurred in Oshana (3), Omusati (3), Khomas (2), Hardap and Otjozondjupa (1 each).
