N$100 Million for the Walvis Bay international Airport

The second international airport in Namibia was inaugurated last week Friday in Walvis bay at the cost of N$100 million.

It stands as a national treasure, an assets and a testament to the Namibian spirit of Harambee. The building is designed to accommodate 200 passengers per hour and one million passengers per annum. The airport attracted various brands such as Mug and Bean and Car rentals.
The new runway at the airport was completed at a cost N$202 million. The runway can accommodate multiple wide bodied aircrafts such as the airbus380 as well as a fire station at the cost of N$10 million. The airport was a result of teamwork and a laser focus towards national development.
The Board Chairperson of the Namibian Airports Company Ndeuhala Lewis concluded the following:
‘’It may be necessary at this point to highlight that virtually all our airports were military airport designed for military operations. These airports served us well when air traffic was low and the Namibian aviation industry was in its infancy.’’
