No less than 19 people perished across the country over the past weekend, police announced, with alcohol being at the centre of most of the deadly violent acts.
Echoing the recent sentiments by First Lady Monica Geingos, chief inspector Kauna Shikwambi yesterday exclaimed that Namibians drink too much, causing the deaths of many. She said seven murders were committed, seven people committed suicide, four died in three car crashes and a Grade 9 pupil allegedly aborted her 32-week pregnancy and concealed the abortion. Moreover, three rapes have been reported, as well as two cases of attempted murder and one of armed robbery.
