About 600 Erongo residents, including 15% of Small-medium enterprise contractors will benefit from the upgrade to main road 44, the Swakopmund-Walvis Bay road behind Dune 7. These remarks were made last week by the Minister of Works and Transport at the ground breaking ceremony in Swakopmund.

Honourable Alpheus !Naruseb added that in terms of skills transfer it will allow for Namibian contractors to acquire skills from experienced foreign partners which in turn will contribute to the reduction of poverty. This he said is the main corner stone of government’s development policy.

The project, estimated at about N$ 958.4 million will take approximately 3 years to complete.

The Minister concluded the following: ‘’It is at time disappointing to see contractors that are not mindful of their contractual obligation and go well beyond the stipulated construction period. This should be avoided of all cost on this project.”
