Erongo RED: Net metering to be implemented by 1July

Erongo RED last week urged 143 households in the Erongo Region that make use of renewable energy to adhere to the Net-Metering Rules at a public meeting in Swakopmund.

The rules apply to small renewable in-feed connections or, small-scale in-feed generators limited to generating 60 Amps of single phase electricity. Connections limited to 500 kilo Volt Ampere will be classified under ‘embedded generators”.

68% of the 143 households are situated in Swakopmund.

Nico Niemand from Erongo Red concluded the following: ‘’if you feed energy into the grid, at the end of the month the customer receive financial benefits equal to the cost of energy from Nam power’’.
