Erongo RED: Tariffs to increase as of 1 July

Erongo Red yesterday held a public meeting on the tariffs increase in Erongo region in Swakopmund.

Due to increasing energy costs, tariffs will increase as of June on a yearly basis. The electricity distributor aims to continue with pensioner’s increase of 3% and also increasing access to prepayment metering especially for low income customers.

Erongo red is still waiting for the proposed tariff increase from the Ministry of Mines and energy which is an average increase of 3.8% for Swakopmund.

Nico Niemand from Erongo Red concluded the following: ‘’The tariffs increase is always let by our suppliers, now we are waiting from the ministry to confirm the increase .I will estimate the increase will be 10%,as soon as the minister respond we will let our customers know.’’
