A US court on Tuesday convicted two men of attempting to help the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, with one attempting to travel to the Middle East.
A jury found Nader El-hu-zayel and Muhanad Badawi, both 25, guilty of conspiring to provide material support to the jihadist group, the US Justice Department said in a statement.
Both men, from Anaheim, California, were arrested in May last year, when El-hzayel was about to board a plane from Los Angeles to Turkey to join the ISIS group.
They had "used social media to discuss ISIS and terrorist attacks, expressed a desire to die as martyrs, and made arrangements for El-hu-zayel to leave the United States to join ISIS," the statement said, using a term for the ISIS group.
