NEW revelations about the botched Kora All Africa Music Awards have implicated government as a role-player at the highest level, with questions being asked whether Cabinet had a direct role in the disappearance of N$23 million in taxpayers’ money.
The money was siphoned through the Namibia Tourism Board, purportedly to purchase a ‘platinum promotional package’ to allegedly market Namibia as a tourist destination during the screening of the Kora awards. It has come to light that a committee of four Cabinet members played a direct role in government’s involvement in the flubbed ceremony. Government sources said the four are environment minister Pohamba Shifeta, information minister Tjekero Tweya, education minister Katrina Hanse-Himarwa and attorney general Sacky Shanghala.
