SPYL administrator faces charges

THE Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) office administrator is threatened with the chop in a move that many people in the divided ruling party organ claim is a manifestation of the fighting between the league’s two centres of power.

Alma Nangolo is expected to be hauled before a disciplinary committee today, following her suspension by acting SPYL secretary Veikko Nekundi in February. Nekundi yesterday confirmed that Nangolo was facing disciplinary charges, but refused to provide details, saying it was an internal party matter and it would be unethical to divulge any information to third parties. SPYL sources said although former secretary Elijah Ngurare was back in the party, those seen to be close to him continue to suffer as Nekundi’s faction is trying to assert its authority.
