You can't come between me, Nujoma - Geingob

PRESIDENT Hage Geingob on Saturday said nobody can come between former president Sam Nujoma and himself, and reminded the media that the freedom it enjoys today came at a high price.

Geingob said this when he addressed a poorly−attended belated 56th Swapo Party anniversary at the Katutura Multi−Purpose Youth Complex, where less than 350 people turned up. There was heated debate on social media platforms last week when Geingob did not attend Nujoma’s 87th birthday celebrations held at the Etunda Trust Farm outside Otavi, despite the programme showing that he was supposed to speak on behalf of the government. The debate was on the nature of his relationship with Nujoma, which was said to have deteriorated. But he assured the nation shortly before cutting the cake that they were still on good terms. “You cannot come between me and comrade Nujoma. Young people, where were you when we were protecting him [Nujoma]?” he asked.
