THE man convicted of having murdered and robbed a young woman whose decomposing body was found at a school at Arandis in the Erongo region three years ago, was sentenced to an effective prison term of 40 years yesterday.
His record of past clashes with the law showed that Charles !Noabeb (30) did not learn a lesson from his previous criminal convictions and a prison term which he served before he murdered the late Cintha Robertha Gaeses, Judge Dinnah Usiku remarked during his sentencing. “Having regard to his criminal history, his uncontrolled and unpredictable behaviour makes him a danger to society, and in my view, this is a case where society is entitled to seek protection from the courts against such types of persons,” Judge Usiku said. She sentenced !Noabeb to a 30−year prison term on a charge of murder, ten years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances and a three−year jail term for defeating or obstructing the course of justice.

The three−year prison term should run concurrently with the sentence on the robbery charge, the judge ordered.
