Students swamp Nam−Mic

ABOUT 300 first−year tertiary students swamped the Nam−Mic Payment Solutions offices in Windhoek yesterday to collect their Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) cards.

Since the beginning of this year, NSFAF has hired Nam−Mic to deal with students’ payments to deposit money on cards issued to each student instead of paying the money directly into the accounts of the respective institutions as they did in the past. When The Namibian arrived at Nam−Mic ‘s offices yesterday, students could be seen in every corner of the building’s yard with no evident orderly queue in sight, nor any officials maintaining order. Julia Nghiimudino, a first−year economics student at Unam, said the officials were very slow and disorganised.

She claimed that she was also not officially informed to come and collect her card and just heard from friends, who also heard from friends.
