Parliament is a house of shame - Cope

Parliament has become a national disgrace, Cope said on Tuesday after EFF MPs were again evicted from the National Assembly.

"Today, sadly, Parliament has just experienced its darkest moment: MPs and security personnel exchanged blows in full view of the nation and the world," Congress of the People spokesperson Dennis Bloem said.

The ANC’s "underwhelming" response to the April 29 Constitutional Court ruling that President Jacob Zuma had failed to uphold his oath of office was part of the reason for the chaos, he said.

Security officers forced all EFF members out of the National Assembly chamber when they insisted that they would not let Zuma answer questions. Punches were thrown and a water bottle, an EFF hard hat, and a walkie talkie went flying.
