Customs and Excise for Business Community

The Ministry of Finance last week held an information session with the business community from Swakopmund.

The session aimed to provide information on what is required by the Ministry of Finance for a business to operate. This included information regarding Customs and Excise which many in the business community thought falls under the Ministry of Defense. One-on-one consultation was also given.

Hester Beyer from the Ministry of Finance concluded the following: "I think it was successful, the challenges is that the SME’s don’t have the knowledge what impact the late payment of taxes have on their businesses. If they don’t pay tax is an offence to the Namibian government."
