Khomas Region claims victory at National School Athletics Championships

The National School Athletics Championships, sponsored by Coca-Cola was hosted over the weekend with the Khomas Region claiming overall victory in Swakopmund.

Altogether 801 athletes, representing all 14 Regions competed with the Khomas Region winning 36 gold medals, the Erongo region 15 gold medals and the Otjozondjupa region12 gold medals respectively. 70 Athlete’s will be selected for the Confederation of school sports association of Southern Africa Championships to take place in May this year in Swakopmund where they will be competing against 5 African countries.

Mr. Cloete the chairperson of the National school Athletics of Namibia concluded the following: ‘’The Athletes performances from last year has improved, unfortunately this year only the under 13 and 17 will be compete against 5 African countries by May. I want to encourage athletes, in athletics there’s no athlete that knows that today he or she will be winning even at the international level keep on practicing it might be you tomorrow.’’
