A RECENT case in which TransNamib was instructed to reinstate a dismissed manager could lead to several other cases in which the parastatal might have to revisit decisions to suspend senior managers over the past three years.
The Namibian has learned that the transport parastatal’s board of directors decided to swallow the bitter pill and take responsibility for the company’s past actions in which at least five senior managers were suspended since 2013. The company suffered a major blow last week after a decision to dismiss TransNamib’s chief legal adviser Gokulan Thambapilai was reversed. He was asked to report for duty with immediate effect. Thambapilai was dismissed in July last year after he was found guilty of what the company termed “habitual absenteeism”.
