PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has urged regional governors not to remain silent when confronted with controversial questions.
Meeting the governors, regional council chairpersons and chief regional officers from the 14 regions of the country for the first time at State House yesterday, Geingob said they must take charge when violent situations threaten peace in their respective regions.
Referring to the recent violent land grabs at Walvis Bay, he reminded the regional political heads that he appointed them to be his representatives in the regions. Geingob also hammered on his recently-unveiled Harambee Prosperity Plan, saying: I will continue to talk about Harambee until you are tired and until you implement it. He also said with four years of his term remaining, he would like to ensure that the plan is executed by the end of his tenure, and expects his entire team to see that the set targets are met.
The governors raised questions on several challenges they face, and blamed the slow progress on project implementation on inadequate resources and a lack of skilled manpower.
