THE Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the circumstances under which British firm Westminster Aviation Security Services was awarded a 25-year contract to service airport security systems in Namibia.
ACC spokesperson Albertus Mbanga confirmed yesterday that they were investigating works permanent secretary Willem Goeiemann, the Namibia Airports Company and the head of the directorate of Civil Aviation, Angeline Simana. The works ministry's acting director of transportation policy and regulations, Damien Mabengano, and Goeiemann's personal assistant Monica Uupindi will also be investigated. Mbanga said a case of alleged corruption concerning the negotiations between the Namibia Airports Company and Westminster Aviation Security Services was opened on 14 March this year.
