Erongo: 1076 infected with TB

The Ministry of Health and social services last week commemorated World Tuberculosis Day in Swakopmund.
Namibia currently has the fourth highest TB infections in the world with 1 076 infected in the Erongo region alone. In 2015 40% of TB patients were diagnose with the HIV virus compared to 42% in 2014.
World Tuberculosis Day is a worldwide event that aims to raise public awareness of Tuberculosisand the efforts made to prevent and treat this disease.
The Health director of the Erongo Region, Jermiah Nghipundjwa concluded the following: ‘’TB is still a major public health challenge facing the world, this day remind us that we need to win the fight against this disease .It is our responsibility of each of us to ensure that no Namibian can die of TB and we can do it.’’
