Mayor of Swakopund urges community to steer clear of illegal strikes

The Mayor of Swakopmund urged community members to stop illegal strikes at a public meeting last week held by the Labour Commission of Namibia in Swakopmund.
The office of the Labour Commission deals with alternate dispute resolution and prevention, since 1993. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the public on labour relation issues. More than 40 community members were part of the information session and questions were tackled regarding labour relation activities.
The Mayor of Swakopmund Pauline Nashilondo concluded the following:
‘’It must be understood that strike in general have a negative impact to the growth of the economy, As responsible leaders we must ensure that dispute in labour issues are resolved. I advice that strike should be resulted as the last solution in labour issues dispute.’’
