Maritime Committee meeting currently underway in Swakopmund

The 22nd annual SADC Maritime Committee meeting that started on Monday and ends tomorrow is currently underway in Swakopmund. Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Namibia are part of this meeting.
The Maritime Committee is an essential body that is entrusted to ensure a safe, secure and peaceful regional maritime environment. Peter Vilho from the Namibian Navy concluded the following yesterday:
‘’Today, as navy chiefs and maritime representatives from the land lock countries, we are gathered here once more to meet, discuss, deliberate and find solutions to issues that we are facing in the region in general and member countries in particular. The issues under consideration are: Riverine and inland water exercises, maritime concept of operations the concept of common platform.’’
