The Swakopmund municipality together with the Lusaka city council and the city of Malmo had a seminar on urban gardening recently in Swakopmund.
The main objective is that, by the end of 3 years , the Swakopmund municipality would have facilitated local production of affordable food, and also have spread the knowledge of urban gardening to community members – enabling them to have a garden of their own in their backyard.
Ms Gunilla Andersson from the City of Malmo, Sweden concluded the following :
‘’To call something urban gardening you have to be in and around the city , and use and reuse some of the urban resources ,by also serve the consumers within the city.’’
