UNODC gives training to Justice Practitioners of Namibia

The United Nation on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) officially launched their 5 days Training for Justice Practitioners of Namibia in Swakopmund.
The main focus of the training is to detect, investigate and prosecute human trafficking. Namibia is also in the process of formulating a stand –alone law on trafficking which also makes provision for the protection of victims. A draft bill on combating human trafficking is currently available.

‘’ I am informed that, although not yet released, the result of the study has informed further awareness raising and prevention efforts that enables stakeholders to draft and implement a national plan of action on gender based violence 2012-2016, which includes an anti-trafficking strategy. It will require significant efforts, as well as sufficient resources to implement the plan and to comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking’’ concluded the Prime Minister of Namibia Saraa Kuugongelwa- Amadhila
